PATHOLOGIES (DISEASES)

Chronic Musculoskeletal Pain

  • Osteoarthritis
  • Spine
  • Persistent pain after spine surgery
  • Headache
  • Jaw pain
  • Upper limb joints
  • Joints of the lower limbs

Over the years, we have developed expertise in the management of persistent and chronic musculoskeletal problems (chronic pain) affecting all joints of the body, including the spine.

With the treatment modalities we use at the clinic, we have an excellent success rate in managing persistent and recurring pain problems.

Osteoarthritis

Patients who are told that:

  • osteoarthritis of the cervical spine (neck)
  • osteoarthritis of the lumbar spine (low back)
  • osteoarthritis of the knees
  • osteoarthritis of the hips

is responsible for the persistent pain they have in the neck (often accompanied by headache), lower back, knees or hips can often be helped by a combination of treatment methods used in the clinic.

Spine

Neck pain, Mid back pain, Low back pain

Patients who suffer from:

  • neck pain
  • mid back pain (pain between the shoulder blades, rib pain)
  • low back pain

that are persistent or recurrent following a temporary respite from treatments such as manipulation, physiotherapy and different types of injections (such as cortisone infiltration of the facets of the joints, nerve blocks and epidural injections) may also be helped through a combination of treatment modalities used at the clinic.

After spine surgery

After spine surgery: persisting neck pain, persisting low back pain

After successful spinal surgery (spinal fusion, disc surgery), the treatment modalities used in the clinic can help patients with persistent low back or neck pain because, even if the surgery has been successful, weak ligaments in the lumbar spine and pelvis or even in the cervical spine may be responsible for the persistent pain.

In such a situation, Prolotherapy (injections to strengthen the ligaments) can be very helpful.

Headaches

We also get good results in the management of headaches that have been chronic or recurrent for years, and this because many headaches (migraines, facial neuralgia, tension headaches) originate from the cervical spine.

Jaw pain

Temporomandibular joint

 Patients with temporomandibular joint problems:

  • painful jaw,
  • clicking jaw,

can be helped by a combination of the modalities of treatment used at the clinic.

Joints of upper extremities

Pain involving the shoulders, the elbows, the hands & wrists

We have had excellent results in treating patients with chronic or recurrent pain in all of the upper limb joints.

At the shoulders, we can help problems such as:

  • persisting or recurring bursitis,
  • persisting pain after a sport injury,
  • rotator cuff syndrome,
  • impingement syndrome,
  • recurring shoulder dislocation (even if surgery has been performed),
  • Acromioclavicular joint (AC joint) pain - Osteoarthritis - SLAP lesion.

At the elbows, we can help problems such as:

  • tennis elbow,
  • golfer"s elbow (Epicondylosis).

At the hands and wrists, we can help problems such as:

  • pain persisting after a healed fracture,
  • carpal tunnel syndrome,
  • osteoarthritis responsible for painful wrists & painful joints of the fingers.

Joints of lower extremities

Hips pain, Knees pain, Ankles & feet pain

We have had positive results in the treatment of patients with chronic or recurrent pain affecting all of the lower limb joints.

At the hips, we can help problems such as:

  • osteoarthritis of the hip (mild and moderate), when surgery is not indicated,
  • bursitis,
  • chronic hip pain persisting after hip replacement.

At the knees, we can help problems such as:

  • osteoarthritis (mild and moderate), when surgery is not indicated,
  • knee pain persisting after a sports injury or a fall,
  • knee pain persisting after ligament reconstruction surgery,
  • knee pain persisting after knee replacement,
  • knee pain persisting after knee arthroscopy,
  • knee pain that improves following physiotherapy and/or manipulations, but keeps recurring. This is often secondary to instability of the knee due to weak ligaments and can be helped by Prolotherapy.

At the ankles and feet, we can help problems such as:

  • persistent ankle pain after a fracture has healed,
  • ankle pain that persists after a sprain,
  • chronic ankle instability,
  • recurring ankle sprains are often secondary to instability due to weak ligaments and can be helped by prolotherapy,
  • heel pain (plantar fasciitis, achilles tendon),
  • painful arch,
  • forefoot pain (including Morton's neuroma like syndrome).

CONSULTATION PROCEDURES

REQUEST FOR CONSULTATION

Consultation from treating physicians

We prefer that new patients be referred by their treating physician (family physician or specialist) for the following reasons:

  • Your attending physician will send us all relevant medical information, including copies of X-rays, CT scans or MRI scans that have been performed;
  • to ensure good continuity of care, we will send your doctor a report including the diagnosis and the suggested treatment.

Request for consultation directly

If you do not have an attending physician, you can still be seen but we will ask you to provide copies of X-rays, CT scans and MRI scans that have been done in the past.
